What kind of wine is Friuli Colli Orientali Pinot Bianco DOC 2024 - Bastianich

The Friuli Colli Orientali Pinot Bianco DOC 2024 - Bastianich is a fresh and refined white wine, an authentic expression of the Friulian hills. Pinot Bianco is a grape variety with an elegant and discreet character, which finds an ideal environment in the Colli Orientali del Friuli: calcareous-marl soils and a ventilated microclimate favor slow ripening and a distinct mineral component. This white wine stands out for its clean and harmonious profile, with a perfect balance between freshness, savoriness, and a pleasant roundness on the finish. It is a versatile wine, designed for those seeking quality, balance, and drinkability in every glass.

Vintage details

The 2024 vintage in the Colli Orientali del Friuli was characterized by a balanced climate: a mild and dry spring favored perfect flowering, while the summer was warm but without extremes, with good temperature variations between day and night. These conditions allowed the Pinot Bianco to develop clear aromas and lively freshness, maintaining a natural acidity well integrated into the wine's body.

Winemaking and aging

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are carefully selected, destemmed, and gently pressed to preserve the aromatic purity of the must. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, a technique that allows the fragrance and freshness to be preserved intact. This is followed by a period of about four months of aging in steel on the fine lees (the lighter solid parts of the must), a practice that adds body and complexity to the wine without making it heavy. No wood aging: Bastianich's choice focuses entirely on the expressive transparency of the grape variety.

Tasting notes

Color

In the glass, it presents a clear, bright, and luminous straw yellow color, a sign of its freshness and youth.

Nose

On the nose, it releases fine and direct aromas: notes of white flowers, green apple, and pear intertwine with light citrus and mineral nuances. An immediate but elegant bouquet, typical of the best Friulian Pinot Bianco wines.

Palate

On the palate, it reveals a lively freshness and a natural balance between acidity and softness. The sip is full but smooth, with a slightly savory finish that invites another taste. It is a linear, mineral, and highly drinkable wine, perfect for accompanying a meal from start to finish.

Storage and aging: how to store Friuli Colli Orientali Pinot Bianco DOC 2024 - Bastianich wine

This Pinot Bianco expresses its best freshness within 2-3 years of harvest. To store it best, keep it in a dark place, with a constant temperature around 12°C and away from heat sources or vibrations. The bottle should be stored horizontally, to keep the natural cork moist. Although it may evolve slightly over time, acquiring softer and honeyed notes, its true strength lies in its youthful freshness and the fragrance of the fruit. A wine to be enjoyed, today, to rediscover the simplicity of Bastianich quality every day.
