What kind of wine is Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 'Rhetico' 2018 - Bolla

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 'Rhetico' 2018 - Bolla is an authentic expression of the Veronese territory, born from the native Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes grown in the hills of Valpolicella Classica. This Amarone embodies the Bolla tradition in a modern key, offering a wine of strong personality, full-bodied and velvety, yet harmonious and of great elegance. The name “Rhetico” is inspired by the Venetian goddess of abundance Reitia, a symbol of richness and prosperity: exactly what you find in the glass.

Vintage Details

The 2018 vintage was balanced and consistent, with a climate that favored a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. After the harvest, hand-selected from the best-exposed vineyards, the bunches are left to dry for about 3 months. This appassimento process (a slight natural drying of the grapes) concentrates sugars and aromas, giving the wine a full structure and a unique aromatic intensity.

Winemaking and Aging

After pressing the dried grapes, the must ferments slowly for several weeks at a controlled temperature to preserve aromas and finesse. This is followed by a long aging period: 36 months in French oak barriques and an additional 12 months in the bottle. This patient maturation develops the typical softness of Amarone and gives Rhetico a perfect balance between intensity and elegance.
