What kind of wine is Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2018 - La Roncaia
The Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2018 - La Roncaia is a red wine of character, an authentic expression of one of Friuli Venezia Giulia's most representative indigenous grape varieties. This Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso DOC conveys the strength of the territory and the meticulous care with which the La Roncaia winery enhances every grape, creating an intense, elegant, and deeply distinctive wine. Full-bodied, enveloping, and remarkably balanced, it stands out for its ability to harmonize power and finesse, offering a complete sensory experience to the palate.Vintage details
The 2018 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with a warm but not excessive summer and an autumn favorable for grape ripening. La Roncaia chose to carry out a late harvest, picking the grapes only when the fruit reached full aromatic and sugar concentration. A portion of the bunches is then left to dry naturally for about eight weeks, a practice that enhances the aromatic complexity and richness of the wine.Winemaking and aging
After destemming, the grapes undergo a long maceration in stainless steel tanks, with fermentation lasting about 25-30 days at a controlled temperature. This allows for optimal extraction of color and structure. This is followed by aging, which takes place for about 18 months in wooden barrels, during which the wine evolves and develops spicy notes and great depth. The result is a Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso with an elegant, complex, and well-balanced profile.Tasting notes
