What kind of wine is Franciacorta Brut DOCG Jéroboam - Ferghettina (wooden box)

The Franciacorta Brut DOCG Jéroboam - Ferghettina (wooden box) is an Italian sparkling wine of great elegance, produced with the Metodo Classico (the same as Champagne), a technique that involves the second fermentation directly in the bottle. It originates in the heart of Franciacorta, in Lombardy, a hilly area with a unique vocation for producing the highest quality sparkling wines. It is a sparkling wine with a balanced and refined character, fully expressing the style of the Ferghettina winery: aromatic cleanliness, finesse, and freshness. The Jéroboam version (3 liters) is perfect for important occasions, presented in a fine wooden box that enhances its elegance as a gift idea.

Vintage details

The vintages of Franciacorta Brut Ferghettina are distinguished by the careful selection of grapes from various vineyards in the area. Each harvest, meticulously controlled, is conditioned by the year's climate, generally mild and characterized by good temperature variations between day and night, a factor that favors the maintenance of pleasant natural acidity and a fine and balanced aromatic bouquet.

Winemaking and aging

The Franciacorta Brut DOCG Jéroboam - Ferghettina is made from a blend primarily composed of Chardonnay grapes and a small percentage of Pinot Noir. Each vineyard is vinified separately to best enhance the individual characteristics of the parcels. In spring, after numerous tastings, the final cuvée is created, then bottled for the prise de mousse – the second fermentation that creates the bubbles. The wine ages for at least 24 months on its lees, during which it develops complexity and a refined creamy taste. After dégorgement (disgorgement), it rests for a few more months before being released for sale, to ensure the perfect balance between freshness and softness.

Tasting Notes

Color

It presents a brilliant straw yellow with golden reflections. The perlage is very fine and persistent, a distinctive sign of the best Franciacorta wines made with the Metodo Classico.

Nose

The aroma is elegant and harmonious, with notes of white flowers, fresh citrus, and hints of crusty bread and sweet leavened pastries, typical characteristics of long aging on the lees. Slight nuances of green apple and almond also emerge, enriching the aromatic profile.

Palate

On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and pleasantly mineral. The fine and creamy bubbles enhance the sensation of cleanliness and extend the persistence. The dry and lively finish leaves a feeling of great harmony and invites a second sip.
