What kind of wine is Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 'Minéral' 2018 - Agrapart & Fils

The Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru “Minéral” 2018 - Agrapart & Fils is one of the most authentic and refined expressions of the Côte des Blancs, the result of the experience of one of the most esteemed houses in Avize. Produced exclusively from Chardonnay Grand Cru grapes, it originates from vineyards located in the prestigious municipalities of Avize and Cramant, where the chalky and calcareous soil imparts a distinct minerality and elegant structure to the wine. Like all Agrapart Champagnes, “Minéral” is made according to the méthode champenoise, which is secondary fermentation in the bottle that allows for the development of its fine effervescence and the aromatic complexity that distinguishes it.

Vintage Details

The 2018 vintage was characterized by balanced weather, with a mild spring and a sunny summer that ensured perfectly ripe grapes. Ideal harvest conditions allowed for the production of Chardonnay with great aromatic purity, boasting a fresh yet deep and structured profile. This natural balance is reflected in the glass, where energy, finesse, and a clear mineral imprint coexist.

Vinification and Aging

Fermentation takes place for about half in oak barrels, which impart roundness and complexity to the wine, while still allowing the natural freshness of the Chardonnay to shine through. This is followed by a long aging of about 5 years on its lees in the bottle, essential for the development of aromas and creaminess on the palate. The final dosage is “Extra Brut,” meaning with a minimal residual sugar, a choice that enhances the precision and purity of the terroir.

Tasting Notes

Color

In the glass, it presents a delicate, brilliant golden yellow, traversed by a constant stream of very fine bubbles, a sign of the quality of the mousse and the long aging process.

Nose

On the nose, it reveals a delicate and sophisticated profile: notes of candied citrus, white flowers, and chalk intertwine with nuances of almond and toasted bread. The mineral imprint – from which the name “Minéral” comes – emerges elegantly and imparts a pleasant sensation of depth.

Taste

On the palate, it is decisive, tense, and vibrant. The attack is fresh and vertical, while salinity and fine minerality accompany the entire sip. The long and harmonious finish closes with citrusy and slightly saline sensations, making each taste an invitation to the next.

Storage and Aging – how to store Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 'Minéral' 2018 - Agrapart & Fils

To maintain the finesse of the Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru “Minéral” 2018 - Agrapart & Fils, it is important to store it correctly:
  • Constant temperature: between 10°C and 12°C, avoiding thermal shocks that could compromise quality.
  • Dark environment: light accelerates aging and alters aromas, so store bottles away from light sources.
  • Horizontal position: keeping the bottle on its side keeps the cork moist and ensures perfect sealing over time.
If stored correctly, this Champagne can evolve for several years, progressively enriching its mineral notes and aromatic complexity.
