What kind of wine is Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 'Dorien N° 62' - Stéphane Regnault

Born in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most prestigious villages in the Côte des Blancs, Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 'Dorien N° 62' - Stéphane Regnault is an authentic expression of the terroir and the artisanal approach of one of the most interesting houses among the new generation of independent vignerons. Produced exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay grapes, cultivated with biodynamic practices, this Champagne embodies the purity and precision that characterize Stéphane Regnault's work. The vines are located in the “Les Hautes Mottes” parcel, characterized by chalk-rich soils and favorable sun exposure for the full aromatic development of the grape. Its production follows the Champenoise method (or traditional method), which involves re-fermentation in the bottle with a long period of aging on the lees, which gives the bubbles complexity, elegance, and a fine creaminess.

Vintage Details

Each edition of Dorien N° 62 tells the story of a specific and unrepeatable vintage. Favorable climatic conditions, with sunny days and cool nights, allowed for perfect ripening of the grapes, providing a balance between freshness and aromatic maturity. The result is a harmonious Champagne, characterized by a vibrant minerality typical of the Le Mesnil-sur-Oger territory.

Vinification and aging

Vinification takes place partly in stainless steel, to preserve freshness and aromatic cleanliness, and partly in barriques, to add structure and depth. The second fermentation in the bottle occurs according to the traditional method, with a long period of aging on the lees that extends for several years, contributing to enriching the bouquet and refining the texture of the bubbles. The Extra Brut dosage (very low sugar content) enhances the purity of the fruit and the mineral component, resulting in a direct and vibrant sip.

Tasting Notes

Color

In the glass, it presents a luminous golden yellow with greenish reflections. The very fine and persistent bubbles gracefully rise, indicating a long maturation on the lees.

Nose

The aroma is subtle and complex: it opens with notes of fresh citrus, white flowers, and almond, followed by slight nuances of bread crust and fine pastry. The overall impression is harmonious and refined, with a distinct mineral character.

Palate

On the palate, it is taut and vertical, with a sharp freshness balanced by a pleasant roundness. The creamy and refined bubbles accompany notes of ripe fruit and a long savory finish that closes with citrusy and chalky memories. Elegance, precision, and balance are the keywords of this Blanc de Blancs.
