What kind of wine is Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru “Chromatique” - Stéphane Regnault?
The Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru “Chromatique” - Stéphane Regnault is born in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne's most renowned villages, famous for its chalky and mineral soils. It is a pure Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs) exclusively from Grand Cru classified parcels, which give the wine an extremely refined and complex profile. The Stéphane Regnault house represents a new generation of récoltant-manipulant, winemakers who personally oversee every stage, from the vineyard to the bottle. The wine is produced using the Champenoise method – i.e., secondary fermentation in the bottle – which involves long aging on its lees to develop aromas and fine bubbles, true signatures of the Mesnil territory.Vintage Details
The vintage of this Champagne perfectly reflects the balance between freshness and ripeness typical of the best seasons in Champagne. The temperate climate, with sunny summers and cool nights, allowed for slow and complete ripening of the Chardonnay grapes, preserving their acidity and aromatic purity. The parcels, cultivated without the use of systemic treatments, fully express the minerality of the calcareous soil.Winemaking and Aging
Fermentation is conducted partly in steel and partly in wood, to preserve the freshness of the Chardonnay while adding depth and structure. After secondary fermentation in the bottle – "prise de mousse" – the wine rests on its lees for a long time, a phase that enriches its bouquet and creaminess on the palate. The dosage is Extra Brut, meaning very low in sugar, emphasizing the purity and precision of the Le Mesnil-sur-Oger terroir.Tasting Notes
