What kind of wine is Barbaresco DOCG “Santo Stefano” 2021 - Castello di Neive

The Barbaresco DOCG “Santo Stefano” 2021 - Castello di Neive represents one of the qualitative peaks of Piedmontese production. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, a varietal symbolic of the Langhe region, capable of yielding wines of great complexity and longevity. This Barbaresco originates from a historic cru, “Santo Stefano,” known for its extraordinary ability to produce elegant and profoundly structured wines. In the glass, it presents a full-bodied red, balanced and harmonious, authentically interpreting the character of the territory.

Vintage Details

The 2021 vintage was characterized by regular climatic conditions, with a dry summer and balanced temperatures that favored perfect grape ripening. The harvest, which took place in early October, yielded healthy bunches with thick skins and excellent aromatic concentration. The result is a wine with an intense profile, yet refined and balanced.

Winemaking and Aging

After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and left to ferment in steel tanks with a three-week maceration on the skins, useful for extracting aromas and tannins. Once fermentation is complete, the wine ages for 18 months in large oak barrels, which enhance its complexity without overpowering its aromas. This is followed by a period of rest in the bottle, during which the wine reaches full harmony.
