What wine is Sfursat di Valtellina DOCG 'Carlo Negri' 2021 - Nino Negri
Sfursat di Valtellina DOCG 'Carlo Negri' 2021 - Nino Negri is a red wine of great character, a symbol of Valtellina and the art of natural raisining. It is made from Nebbiolo grapes (locally called Chiavennasca), cultivated on the sunny terraces of Valtellina, where viticulture is almost heroic due to the steep slopes and climatic conditions. The result is an intense, complex, and full-bodied wine, produced only in the best vintages and in limited quantities, in line with the philosophy of the Nino Negri winery, a historic protagonist of the Valtellina wine scene since 1956.Vintage Details
The 2021 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with a sunny summer and cool nights that favored a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. The harvest, carried out manually between late September and early October, allowed for the selection of only the healthiest and ripest bunches, which were then destined for natural raisining, a distinctive element of Sfursat.Vinification and aging
After harvesting, the grapes are left to air-dry for about three months in ventilated rooms, until February. This concentrated process of sugars and aromas increases the wine's structure and intensity, naturally reducing the yield. Fermentation takes place slowly at controlled temperatures, followed by a long maceration on the skins to extract color, tannins, and aromas. Aging continues for over a year in oak barrels, which add complexity and spicy notes, before bottling and a further period of rest in glass.Tasting Notes
