What kind of wine is Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 'Montesodi' 2022 - Frescobaldi?
The Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 'Montesodi' 2022 - Frescobaldi is a red wine of great elegance and character, an authentic expression of the most historic and suitable area for Sangiovese: Castello di Nipozzano, in the hills east of Florence. Made exclusively with Sangiovese grapes from the "Montesodi" vineyard, this wine represents the quintessence of Tuscan tradition. It is produced only in the best vintages, when nature and technique achieve the right balance. It stands out for its full body and its fine tannic structure, which make it a Chianti Rufina Riserva capable of combining power and elegance in perfect Frescobaldi style.Vintage details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a regular climatic trend, with warm but ventilated summers and cool nights that allowed for gradual grape ripening. This thermal balance favored the formation of concentrated aromas and soft tannins, offering a wine of great expressiveness and aging potential. The Sangiovese grapes were hand-picked at their full phenolic maturity, ensuring great quality and fruit integrity.Winemaking and aging
After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to preserve the typical aromas of Sangiovese. Maceration on the skins lasts for about 25 days, during which pump-overs and delicate punch-downs are performed to extract color and structure. Aging continues for about 18 months in 30-hectoliter French oak barrels, a key step that imparts aromatic complexity and roundness to the palate. After bottling, the wine rests further in the cellar before being released to the market.Tasting notes
