What kind of wine is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020 - Villa Poggio Salvi
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020 - Villa Poggio Salvi is a great Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese Grosso grapes, a typical variety of Montalcino, cultivated on sun-drenched and well-ventilated hills. It is a wine with an elegant and structured character, embodying the tradition of one of Italy's most prestigious denominations. Full-bodied and profound, it represents the authentic expression of a territory capable of producing long-aging wines, rich in aromas and with a balanced tannic texture.Vintage details
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with mild temperatures and good day-night temperature excursions, ideal conditions for optimal grape ripening. The harvest, carried out by hand towards the end of September, allowed for an accurate selection of the best bunches, ensuring a base of excellent quality for the wine. The result: a harmonious Brunello, with intense fruity notes and a balanced structure.Winemaking and aging
After harvesting, the grapes are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a maceration of about three weeks to extract color and tannins. Aging continues for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels, wood famous for its ability to impart complexity without overpowering varietal aromas. This is followed by an additional rest of at least 4 months in the bottle, during which the wine evolves and refines its aromatic components.Tasting notes
