What kind of wine is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 - Campogiovanni

The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 - Campogiovanni originates on the southern slopes of Montalcino, one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of Sangiovese Grosso, the grape variety that produces the most authentic and long-lived Brunellos. Produced by the historic San Felice farm, this wine embodies all the strength and elegance of the Tuscan territory in a large, harmonious, and profound glass. Its body is full and structured, yet always balanced by a finesse that makes it pleasant and accessible even to less experienced palates.

Vintage details

The 2019 vintage is characterized by balanced climatic conditions. A rainy winter favored the water reserves in the soil, while a regular spring allowed for homogeneous flowering. The summer, warm but not extreme, led to the maturation of healthy and concentrated grapes, rich in aromas and with excellent natural acidity. The result is an intense, precise, and already enjoyable Brunello, but with truly remarkable aging potential.

Vinification and aging

The grapes undergo a maceration of about 20 days at a controlled temperature, between 28 and 30°C, to best extract color, aromas, and structure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation, a natural process that softens the wine's acidity. Aging then takes place for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels, wood that favors a slow and harmonious evolution, and for an additional 12 months in bottle before release. This long process gives the wine complexity, balance, and an extraordinary aging capacity.

Tasting notes

Color

In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 - Campogiovanni presents an intense ruby red with slight garnet nuances, a sign of its aging and the mature nature of Sangiovese.

Aroma

On the nose it is ample and deep: notes of black cherry, plum, and ripe red fruits emerge, intertwining with spicy notes of black pepper, leather, and vanilla. With aeration, balsamic nuances and hints of sweet tobacco open up, a sign of well-calibrated aging.

Taste

On the palate it is full, elegant, and of great balance. The tannin (the natural substance that gives structure and a dry sensation) is fine and integrated, while the freshness supports the sip with vivacity. The finish is long and persistent, with fruity echoes and a slightly spicy touch that invites another taste.
