What kind of wine is Barolo del Comune di Barolo DOCG 2019 - Marchesi di Barolo

The Barolo del Comune di Barolo DOCG 2019 - Marchesi di Barolo is an elegant and complex red wine, a symbol of the great Piedmontese tradition. It is made 100% from Nebbiolo grapes, the indigenous grape variety par excellence of the Langhe, cultivated in the historic crus of the Municipality of Barolo. Here, on hills of calcareous and clayey marl, the vines produce a wine of extraordinary aromatic intensity and structure, capable of faithfully representing the identity of the territory.

The result is a full-bodied, balanced, and deep Barolo, which expresses in every sip the perfect union between tradition and contemporary style, typical of the historic Marchesi di Barolo winery.

Vintage Details

The 2019 vintage in Langa was characterized by balanced weather conditions, with a warm but not excessive summer and an autumn that favored a slow and regular ripening of the grapes. The harvest saw healthy and perfectly ripe bunches, with excellent sugar concentration and elegant tannins. All these conditions contributed to creating a fine, deep Barolo del Comune di Barolo 2019 with an impeccable balance between structure and freshness.

Winemaking and aging

After harvesting, the Nebbiolo grapes are destemmed and subjected to temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the finesse of the varietal aromas. Maceration on the skins – the period during which the must remains in contact with the solid parts of the grape to extract color and tannin – lasts about 8 days. Subsequently, the wine matures in small barrels for an initial refinement and then continues its evolution in large Slavonian oak barrels. This double passage gives the Barolo a perfect balance between aromatic intensity, structure, and softness.

Tasting Notes

A Barolo that enchants at first glance and progressively captivates with its complexity and harmony. Here are its main sensory characteristics.

Color

It presents an intense garnet red with developing orange reflections, a typical sign of Nebbiolo's natural evolution over time.

Nose

The bouquet is broad and refined, with notes of small ripe red fruits, dried rose, and sweet spices. Hints of tobacco and liquorice then emerge, a prelude to a complex but perfectly balanced olfactory profile.

Palate

On the palate, it stands out for its important structure and the presence of dense yet polished tannins, which support the sip without ever overwhelming it. The persistence is long and harmonious, with a finish that recalls the fruit and spices perceived on the nose. A wine that promises extraordinary evolution over time.
