What kind of wine is Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2022 - Scrimaglio
Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2022 - Scrimaglio is a Piedmontese red wine born in the heart of the Asti hills, from one of the region's iconic grape varieties: Barbera. It tells the authentic essence of the Langhe through an intense, harmonious and rich sip. It is a full-bodied red, characterized by a marked freshness and softness that makes it immediately pleasant. The experience and history of the Scrimaglio family are translated into a wine that combines tradition and contemporary taste, designed for those looking for quality, territoriality and excellent value for money.Details of the vintage
The 2022 vintage was influenced by a warm and dry climate, which favored a homogeneous ripening of the grapes. The Barbera bunches, hand-picked at the end of September, achieved a perfect sugar and aromatic concentration. The result is a wine with a balanced profile, where the typical energy of the grape is accompanied by an elegant structure and good acidic freshness, essential elements to guarantee longevity and pleasantness.Vinification and aging
The vinification of Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2022 - Scrimaglio follows traditional methods, with alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature to preserve the finest aromas of the grape. After fermentation, a two-week maceration on the skins follows, a phase that allows the extraction of color and noble tannins. Aging takes place for 12 months in large oak barrels, which give complexity and a slight spicy note, without overpowering the fruit.Tasting notes
Color: intense ruby red with subtle garnet reflections, a sign of maturity and structure. Nose: broad and enveloping aroma, with notes of ripe cherry, plum and small red fruits, followed by slight nuances of vanilla and sweet spices derived from aging in wood. Taste: on the palate it is full and round. The soft and well-integrated tannins support good acidity, typical of Barbera, which gives freshness to the sip. The finish is long and persistent, with a particularly pleasant fruity and spicy return.Which dishes to pair with Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2022 - Scrimaglio
Versatile and full of character, this wine pairs with numerous traditional Italian dishes. Perfect for accompanying red meat main courses and aged cheeses, it also offers its best with simpler but flavorful dishes. Try it with:- Tagliatelle with ragù or baked pasta;
- Braised beef or veal stew;
- Mixed grills and roasts;
- Aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno.
