What kind of wine is Alto Adige Chardonnay DOC 'Glarea' 2023 - Cantina Tramin
The Alto Adige Chardonnay DOC “Glarea” 2023 - Cantina Tramin is an elegant and contemporary white wine, a symbol of Alto Adige's winemaking excellence. It is made from Chardonnay grapes grown on calcareous gravel soils at the foot of the Mendola, in an area where the temperature difference between day and night enhances freshness and aromas. Its style stands out for its balance and finesse: a fresh, mineral white wine with a pleasant fruity vein that authentically reflects its territory of origin.Vintage details
2023 in Alto Adige was characterized by a mild spring and a balanced summer, with moderate temperatures and well-distributed rainfall. This climatic trend favored a regular maturation of the grapes, yielding a Chardonnay of great aromatic purity, good acidity, and profound territorial expressiveness. The 2023 vintage delivered crisp and brilliant white wines, capable of combining freshness and intensity.Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed to preserve their aromatic integrity. Fermentation takes place partly in wood – including barriques, tonneaux, and large 12 hl barrels – and partly in stainless steel. This balance between different containers gives the wine complexity and structure without making it heavy. A brief aging on fine lees (exhausted yeasts, which enrich the wine with creaminess and aromas) completes the winemaking process, giving the “Glarea” its typical harmony.Tasting notes
Color
In the glass, it presents a brilliant straw yellow with golden reflections that anticipate its aromatic richness and invite tasting.Nose
The nose opens with elegant notes of ripe yellow fruit – apple, peach, and pineapple – followed by delicate hints of vanilla and butter, derived from its time in wood. Floral nuances and a subtle mineral trace are perceived, anticipating the gustatory freshness.Palate
On the palate, it is harmonious and enveloping, with a full structure yet always balanced by lively acidity. The sip is juicy and savory, with a long and persistent finish where the typical minerality and clarity of the Tramin style emerge. What dishes to pair with Alto Adige Chardonnay DOC 'Glarea' 2023 - Cantina Tramin
