What kind of wine is Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 - Ascesa
Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 - Ascesa is a Lombard red wine born in the heart of Valtellina, a mountain region that gives Nebbiolo – locally known as Chiavennasca – its most elegant expression. It is a red with character, capable of combining the strength of the grape variety with the typical finesse of high altitudes, featuring good structure and an authentic soul.Vintage details
The 2021 harvest was characterized by a balanced summer, with good temperature variations between day and night, an ideal condition for slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Low yields and careful manual harvesting allowed for healthy, concentrated, and aromatically rich bunches. This gave the wine a harmonious profile and a perfect synthesis of freshness and intensity.Winemaking and aging
Fermentation occurs spontaneously, thanks to the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins, a process that enhances the territorial identity of the wine. After several weeks of maceration – during which the skins release color, tannins, and aromas – the wine ages for about 12 months in fourth and fifth-pass barriques and tonneaux. The use of previously used wood serves to smooth edges and enrich the structure without overpowering the fruit's freshness.Tasting notes

It presents a beautiful luminous ruby red, with garnet reflections that anticipate its evolution and traditional winemaking.Aroma
On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, followed by notes of violet, sweet spices, and a slight balsamic hint. The bouquet is fine, never intrusive, and reveals a subtle touch of wood elegantly integrated.Taste

Storage and aging – how to store Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 - Ascesa
To maintain its qualities, Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 - Ascesa should be stored in a cool, dark place with controlled humidity, around 70%. The ideal temperature is about 14-16°C, away from vibrations and heat sources. Thanks to its structure and the balance between acidity and tannins, this wine can evolve gracefully for several years – even beyond 8-10 – developing more complex and refined tertiary aromas.
