What kind of wine is Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC 'Podere Castorani' 2019 - Castorani?
Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC 'Podere Castorani' 2019 - Castorani is a white wine that perfectly expresses the authentic character of Abruzzo. It is made from the Trebbiano grape, a historic variety of central Italy, cultivated in the hilly terrain surrounding the Castorani estate, located between the Adriatic Sea and the slopes of the Maiella mountain. The result is a wine with a fresh, mineral, and harmonious style, where the sapidity given by the calcareous soil blends with fruity and floral notes, typical of this denomination.Vintage details
2019 was a balanced year for Abruzzo vineyards, characterized by a mild winter and a rainy spring that favored a good water reserve. The summer, warm but without extremes, allowed for regular and complete grape ripening, ensuring excellent aromatic concentration and balanced acidity. These conditions resulted in an expressive, elegant, and very clean wine.Winemaking and aging
After a gentle pressing of the grapes, fermentation takes place in 500-liter wooden barrels. This is followed by a partial malolactic fermentation, a process that softens the acidity, making the wine rounder. Aging lasts 12 months "sur lie," meaning in contact with the yeasts, still in wood, then completed with an additional 6 months in bottle. This process gives complexity and depth to the palate, without losing the lively freshness that distinguishes Trebbiano d'Abruzzo.Tasting notes
