What kind of wine is Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci?

The Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci is produced on the hills of Castell’Arquato, in the Monterosso area, in the heart of the Piacenza Hills. It is a sparkling rosé wine re-fermented using the Metodo Classico, meaning with a second fermentation directly in the bottle — the same technique used for Champagne and Franciacorta — which results in fine bubbles and a more complex profile. This rosé by Croci stands out for its elegant, dry, and mineral style, with an inviting freshness that makes it a perfect companion for any occasion.

Vintage details

Each vintage of Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci faithfully reflects the climatic conditions of Castell’Arquato. The grapes are hand-picked into crates to ensure they arrive at the winery healthy and intact. Harvest usually takes place between late August and early September, an ideal period to preserve the natural acidity and fresh aromas of the fruit. Mild temperatures and good diurnal temperature variations favor aromatic development and balanced ripening.

Winemaking and aging

Winemaking involves a first fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, in order to preserve the aromas and fragrance of the base grape variety. This is followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle, a typical process of Metodo Classico, during which the wine undergoes a second fermentation that creates the bubbles. Aging on the lees continues for at least 18 months, a period that gives greater aromatic complexity and a creamier structure on the palate. At the end of maturation, the wine is disgorged without added sugar (zero dosage), thus maintaining an authentic and direct profile.

Tasting notes

Color

Visually, Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci shows an elegant pale pink color with coppery reflections, traversed by a fine and continuous perlage, a sign of careful work in the bottle.

Nose

The bouquet is fresh and fragrant, with aromas reminiscent of small red fruits – such as wild strawberries and currants – accompanied by floral and slightly citrus notes. Over time in the glass, hints of bread crust and hazelnut emerge, typical of aging on the lees.

Palate

On the palate, it is balanced and dynamic, with a creamy mousse that caresses the mouth. Its lively acidity and marked minerality provide freshness and invite another sip. The finish is dry and clean, true to the "zero dosage" style.

What dishes to pair with Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci

This versatile rosé elegantly accompanies both simple dishes and more elaborate preparations. It is perfect as an aperitif, but also performs excellently at the table. Ideal in combination with:
  • Fish and shellfish appetizers
  • White meats and delicate cured meats
  • Fresh or lightly aged cheeses
  • Vegetable dishes and light first courses
Its acidity makes it an excellent companion for fried dishes or Asian cuisine preparations, where freshness balances spicy aromas.

Storage and aging: how to store Spumante Metodo Classico Rosé 'Alfiere' - Croci wine

To fully enjoy the freshness and liveliness of this sparkling wine, it is advisable to consume it within 2-3 years of disgorgement. Store it in a dark, cool place with a constant temperature, ideally between 10 and 15 °C. The bottle should be kept horizontally to keep the cork moist and preserve the wine's characteristics. Serve it at approximately 8-10 °C to enhance its aromatic profile and pleasant effervescence.
