What kind of wine is Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC “Cartagho” 2020 Magnum - Mandrarossa (wooden box)

The Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC “Cartagho” 2020 Magnum - Mandrarossa (wooden box) is a red wine of great personality, an authentic expression of the Menfi territory, on the southwestern coast of Sicily. Produced exclusively from Nero d’Avola grapes, the most representative indigenous grape variety of the island, this wine perfectly embodies the sunny and generous character of its terroir. Full-bodied and harmonious, it is a significant red wine that combines structure, elegance, and a long-lasting taste. The Magnum version, housed in an elegant wooden box, also makes it a perfect gift idea for lovers of authentic wine.

Vintage details

The 2020 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with mild springs and a breezy summer that favored optimal grape ripening. The thermal excursion between day and night contributed to developing a great aromatic concentration and mature tannins. The result is an intense yet perfectly balanced Nero d’Avola, capable of combining power and finesse.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes are selected and hand-picked in the most suitable vineyards of the Menfi area. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by a maceration (contact of the must with the skins) of about 10 days to extract color and aromas. Subsequently, the wine ages for about 12 months in French oak barriques, where it develops its structure and aromatic complexity. The final result is a perfect balance between freshness and softness, with an elegant and persistent profile.

Tasting notes

Color

Visually, it presents a deep and vibrant ruby red, with purplish reflections that speak of its youth and vitality.

Nose

The aroma is intense and enveloping, with notes of ripe red fruit – plum, cherry, and black cherry – blending with hints of sweet spices, vanilla, and light toasting from oak aging. Delicate balsamic nuances and a touch of cocoa also emerge.

Taste

On the palate, it stands out for its full structure and silky tannins, well integrated into the wine's fabric. The balance between softness and freshness enhances its persistence, leaving a long, warm, and slightly savory finish, typical of high-quality Sicilian red wines.

Storage and aging: how to store Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC “Cartagho” 2020 Magnum - Mandrarossa (wooden box)

To best preserve the Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC “Cartagho” 2020 Magnum - Mandrarossa, it is advisable to store it in a cool, dark place, with a constant temperature between 14°C and 18°C and humidity around 70%.
