What kind of wine is Sicilia Grillo DOC “Passiperduti” 2024 - Donnafugata?
Sicilia Grillo DOC “Passiperduti” 2024 - Donnafugata is an elegant and contemporary white wine that embodies the luminous soul of Sicily. It is produced from Grillo grapes, an indigenous island grape variety that has always been appreciated for its intense aromaticity and fine minerality. It originates from the Contessa Entellina Estate, in the heart of southwestern Sicily, where the Mediterranean climate and the day-night temperature excursions enhance its aromas and structure. The soils are loamy-clay, rich in limestone: elements that contribute to the wine's distinct freshness and balanced taste. “Passiperduti” expresses a fresh, mineral, and pleasantly aromatic style, perfect for those seeking a white wine with a sunny yet refined personality.Vintage details
The 2024 vintage in Sicily was characterized by regular climatic conditions, with a mild winter and a balanced spring. Well-distributed rainfall favored optimal vegetative development, while moderate summer temperatures allowed for slow and complete grape ripening. The result is a Grillo with an intense aromatic profile, supported by a beautiful natural acidity.Vinification and aging
After a manual harvest between late August and early September, the bunches are carefully selected in the cellar and gently pressed to preserve the delicate varietal aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, a technique that maintains the wine's freshness and aromatic integrity. This is followed by a brief aging of about 3 months in tanks and an additional 3 months in bottle, to achieve the ideal balance between structure and harmony.Tasting Notes
