What kind of wine is Roero Riserva DOCG 'Trinità' 2019 - Malvirà
The Roero Riserva DOCG 'Trinità' 2019 - Malvirà is a refined Piedmontese wine produced in the heart of Roero, a prestigious wine region located on the left bank of the Tanaro river. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, the emblematic grape variety of Piedmont, cultivated on sun-exposed slopes called “surì,” characterized by an excellent balance of ventilation and warmth. The soil, composed of sands and sandstones with ancient stratifications of marine fossils, is ideal for imparting freshness, elegance, and fine aromatic complexity to the wines. The result is a medium-to-full-bodied wine, precise and deep, where the character of Nebbiolo finds its maximum expression in finesse.Vintage Details
The 2019 vintage is considered one of the most balanced of the decade for Roero. The regular spring and warm but not excessive summer favored a slow and uniform ripening of the grapes, enriching them with aromas and sweet tannins. The harvest, carried out manually in the first days of October, allowed only the best bunches to be selected, preserving their integrity and freshness.Winemaking and Aging
The vinification of Roero Riserva DOCG 'Trinità' 2019 - Malvirà takes place in stainless steel tanks, where the must ferments at a controlled temperature to enhance the varietal aromas. This is followed by a maceration on the skins for about two weeks, useful for extracting color and structure. Aging continues for 24 months in oak barrels, which give the wine complexity and a pleasant tannic softness. After bottling, the wine rests for another 12 months before being released to the market, achieving a perfect balance between freshness and maturity.Tasting Notes
Color
In the glass, it presents an intense garnet red with orange reflections, typical of aged Nebbiolo. The luminosity and transparency express elegance and quality.Nose
The nose offers a broad and refined bouquet: notes of ripe cherry, withered rose, and sweet spices intertwine with slight toasted hints from barrel aging. Scents of licorice and tobacco also emerge, anticipating the complexity of the palate.Palate
The taste is elegant and full. The tannins – the natural substances contained in grape skins that give an astringent sensation – are well-smoothed and harmonious. The structure is solid but balanced by good freshness, while the long and balsamic finish has a pleasant recall of red fruits and spices.Food Pairings with Roero Riserva DOCG 'Trinità' 2019 - Malvirà
