What kind of wine is Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 'Impressioni di Gianni Sinesi' 2023 - Selezione Gianni Sinesi

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 'Impressioni di Gianni Sinesi' 2023 - Selezione Gianni Sinesi is a red wine made from 100% Montepulciano grapes, grown in the Abruzzese hills where the mild climate and Adriatic breezes favour slow and steady ripening. It is a red with a traditional soul but a modern taste, striking for its balance and pleasantness. Full-bodied yet not heavy, soft with a good acidic backbone, it is designed for those who want to discover an authentic, well-made and immediately enjoyable Montepulciano.

Vintage details

The 2023 vintage is characterized by a balanced climate, with a stable summer and a harvest slightly postponed to the second half of October. The hand-picked grapes reached optimal phenolic ripeness, resulting in a wine rich in aromas and with a harmonious structure, without excessive alcohol. It is a vintage that prioritizes freshness and drinkability, while maintaining the typical characteristics of the grape variety.

Winemaking and aging

After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to preserve the typical aromas of Montepulciano. Maceration – the time the must remains in contact with the skins – lasts for several days, to extract colour and soft tannins. Aging continues in stainless steel tanks for approximately 6 months, a choice that emphasizes the purity of the fruit and gives the wine a fresh, immediate, and pleasantly rounded profile.

Tasting notes

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 'Impressioni di Gianni Sinesi' 2023 - Selezione Gianni Sinesi is a red that sincerely tells the story of its territory. Every nuance, from color to taste, invites another sip.

Color

It has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections, typical of the wine's young age and a sign of good phenolic concentration.

Nose

The nose is straightforward and immediate, with aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum. On a second olfaction, subtle floral notes of violet and spicy hints reminiscent of black pepper and vanilla emerge, due to aging in steel and the natural character of the grape variety.

Taste

On the palate, it is enveloping and juicy. The silky and well-integrated tannins support a good structure without ever being intrusive. The freshness and balanced acidity make for an agile and pleasant drink. The persistence is medium-long, with a fruity return that invites another glass.

What dishes to pair with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 'Impressioni di Gianni Sinesi' 2023 - Selezione Gianni Sinesi

This Montepulciano d’Abruzzo easily adapts to the table, thanks to its balanced and versatile profile. Perfect with Italian meat-based dishes, it satisfactorily accompanies:

  • savory pasta dishes with meat sauce or wild game ragu;
  • roasts and grilled red meats;
  • cured meats and medium-aged cheeses;
  • rustic traditional Abruzzese dishes, such as sagne e fagioli or lamb stew.

Served between 16 and 18°C, it best expresses its characteristics and its pleasant harmony.

Storage and aging: how to store Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 'Impressioni di Gianni Sinesi' 2023 - Selezione Gianni Sinesi wine

To preserve the wine's qualities, it is important to store it in a cool, dark place, with a constant temperature between 12 and 16°C and controlled humidity. Bottles should be laid horizontally so that the cork remains constantly moist and ensures an airtight seal.

Although it is a young wine, its good structure and grape quality allow for positive evolution for 3-5 years. Over time, it will develop softer and more complex notes: those who prefer a rounder and more mature Montepulciano can wait a few years, while those who love freshness and fruit can enjoy it immediately.
