What kind of wine is Monferrato Rosso DOC 'Girotondo' 2021 - Accornero
The Monferrato Rosso DOC 'Girotondo' 2021 - Accornero is a red Piedmontese wine of great finesse, an authentic expression of the Vignale Monferrato territory, in the heart of Alto Monferrato. Produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, it represents the most elegant and territorial soul of the Monferrato DOC denomination. It stands out for its harmonious body, balanced structure, and that character of freshness and depth typical of wines born on these clay-limestone hills, ideal for Nebbiolo cultivation. It is a red wine that combines tradition and modern precision, designed for those seeking authentic emotions in their glass.Vintage Details
The 2021 vintage in Monferrato was characterized by regular climatic conditions, with warm but not excessive summers and a dry and well-distributed harvest. These conditions allowed the grapes to achieve complete phenolic ripeness, giving the Monferrato Rosso DOC 'Girotondo' 2021 - Accornero a clean aromatic profile and fine, yet present, tannins. The harvest, as is traditional for Accornero, is carried out by hand to select only the best bunches.Winemaking and Aging
After harvesting, the Nebbiolo grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromatic profile. The maceration phase, the period during which the skins remain in contact with the must, lasts an average of two weeks: an ideal time to extract color, aromas, and tannins in a balanced way. This is followed by aging in oak tonneaux for about 12 months, where the wine slowly evolves, acquiring elegant spicy notes and a deep aromatic complexity. After bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the bottle before being released to the market.Tasting Notes
