What kind of wine is Collio Bianco DOC 'Luna di Ponca' 2021 - Borgo Conventi?
Collio Bianco DOC 'Luna di Ponca' 2021 - Borgo Conventi is an elegant interpretation of Friulian white wines, born in the heart of Collio, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions for the production of aromatic and mineral wines. Crafted with a skillful blend of Friulano, Chardonnay, and Malvasia Istriana, this white wine combines freshness and complexity, offering a balanced and persistent sip. The style is harmonious, lively, and marked by a pleasant minerality that evokes the marl and sandy soils of Ponca, typical of the area.Vintage details
The 2021 vintage in Collio was characterized by balanced weather conditions. Mild temperatures and significant diurnal temperature variations allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, developing intense aromas and a pleasant natural acidity. The absence of extreme weather events favored the harvesting of healthy and concentrated bunches, with an excellent sugar-acid balance, ideal for obtaining fresh and long-lived wines.Vinification and aging
Harvesting is rigorously done by hand, with a double selection of grapes to ensure the highest quality. Each variety is vinified separately to enhance its characteristics:- Friulano: fermented and aged in stainless steel, to preserve aromas and freshness;
- Chardonnay and Malvasia: fermented and matured in small 225-liter oak barrels, where they undergo frequent batonnage (stirring of the fine lees) to enrich the structure and aromatic complexity.
