What kind of wine is Franciacorta DOCG Extra Brut “Francesco I” - Uberti?
The Franciacorta DOCG Extra Brut “Francesco I” - Uberti is a Metodo Classico sparkling wine, meaning it undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, just like Champagne. It comes from the morainic hills of Franciacorta, in Lombardy, one of Italy's most renowned areas for producing high-quality sparkling wines. This Extra Brut is the driest style in the range, designed for those who appreciate elegant, fresh, and mineral wines with very low residual sugar.Vintage Details
The grapes come from various plots in the Uberti family's vineyards, harvested manually in vintages characterized by temperate summers and good temperature fluctuations. These conditions help preserve aromas and acidity, fundamental elements for a Franciacorta of great balance and aromatic cleanliness.Winemaking and Aging
The cuvée of Franciacorta DOCG Extra Brut “Francesco I” - Uberti is created from the skillful blending of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Nero vinified as white wine. After the first fermentation in steel tanks, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico. This is followed by an aging on lees of over 30 months, which imparts complexity and finesse, before disgorgement (i.e., the removal of spent yeasts) and a further six-month rest in the bottle to harmonize the final profile.Tasting Notes
The Franciacorta DOCG Extra Brut “Francesco I” - Uberti is an example of balance between gustatory tension and aromatic refinement.Color
It presents a bright straw yellow color with golden reflections, enhanced by fine and persistent perlage, a sign of long maturation on the lees.Nose
On the nose, it expresses clear and complex aromas of white fruit, citrus, and wildflowers, with nuances of bread crust and toasted almond, typical of long aging.Palate
On the palate, it is very dry, elegant, and vertical. The lively acidity and minerality make it fresh and structured, while the finish is long, clean, and pleasantly savory. A sip that immediately invites another.Food Pairings for Franciacorta DOCG Extra Brut “Francesco I” - Uberti
