What kind of wine is Etna Rosso DOC 'Contrada Rampante' 2020 - Pietradolce
The Etna Rosso DOC “Contrada Rampante” 2020 - Pietradolce is a red wine of extraordinary elegance from the slopes of Mount Etna, in Sicily. It is made from Nerello Mascalese grapes from century-old vines (80-90 years old), cultivated in alberello (bush vine) style on sandy soils of volcanic origin. This particular exposure and volcanic soil give the wine a unique personality, characterized by freshness, minerality, and complexity. With a medium body and balanced structure, it perfectly represents the authentic expression of the Etna territory interpreted with the elegant and precise style of the Pietradolce winery.Vintage Details
The 2020 vintage on Etna was characterized by regular climatic conditions, with a warm but not excessive summer and a dry autumn that favored a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. The result is a wine with impeccable balance, where acidity and softness harmoniously balance each other, best expressing the character of Nerello Mascalese.Winemaking and Aging
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a maceration on the skins of about 20 days, useful for extracting color, aromas, and fine tannins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for about 14 months in French oak barrels, a period during which it acquires greater structure, elegance, and aromatic complexity.Tasting Notes
