What kind of wine is Etna Rosso DOC 'Carusu' 2022 - Terrazze dell’Etna?
The Etna Rosso DOC "Carusu" 2022 - Terrazze dell’Etna is an elegant and authentic red wine, an expression of the volcanic territory on the slopes of Mount Etna. It is made from the indigenous grape varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, varieties that for centuries have represented the oenological soul of this Sicilian area. The result is a medium-bodied wine, balanced and surprisingly versatile, capable of combining the freshness of the Etna mountains with the complexity and typical aromas of the lava soils of Randazzo, where the Terrazze dell’Etna winery is located.Vintage Details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with good diurnal temperature swings that favored a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Moderate rainfall and constant ventilation ensured healthy and concentrated bunches, ideal for obtaining a fragrant wine with great personality.Vinification and Aging
The grapes are hand-picked and subjected to careful vinification, aimed at enhancing the authentic character of the territory. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by maceration on the skins to naturally extract color, aromas, and tannins. Subsequently, the wine ages for about 12 months in steel tanks, followed by a period of about 6 months in tonneau (large oak barrels), which enriches the aromatic bouquet and rounds out the tannic structure, without overpowering the freshness of the fruit.Tasting Notes
The Etna Rosso DOC "Carusu" 2022 - Terrazze dell’Etna presents itself as a wine with an elegant and intense profile, with a perfect balance between fruit and minerality.Color
To the eye, it shows a bright ruby red with garnet reflections, typical of Etna's Nerelli grapes. The clarity and chromatic vibrancy anticipate a young but already expressive wine.Nose
The nose immediately reveals aromas of red fruits – cherry and raspberry above all – accompanied by delicate spicy notes and mineral nuances reminiscent of volcanic ash. With aeration, elegant hints of black pepper, aromatic herbs, and slight toasted notes due to the wood aging appear.Palate

A clean and savory finish immediately invites another sip.Food Pairings for Etna Rosso DOC 'Carusu' 2022 - Terrazze dell’Etna
