What kind of wine is Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno
The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno is a Tuscan red wine of great personality, produced only in vintages that best express the quality of the grapes. It originates in the heart of Chianti Classico, south of Casavecchia, from a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes, also from the small vineyard of Sicelle. It is a structured and harmonious wine, with a complexity that reflects the territory and the authentic style of the Buondonno winery.Vintage details
The 2021 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with a warm but never excessive summer and an excellent temperature range between day and night during ripening. These conditions allowed for healthy and well-ripened grapes, with an ideal aromatic richness and tannic balance for a Riserva. The result is a Chianti Classico with a decisive character, but with an elegant and pleasantly balanced profile.Winemaking and aging
The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno is born from spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by long maceration on the skins to extract color and aromas. Aging takes place in Slavonian oak barrels and 500-liter French oak barriques, where the wine rests for several months, acquiring complexity, roundness, and finesse. A subsequent rest in the bottle completes the process, allowing the wine to harmonize all its components.Tasting Notes
Color
To the eye, it presents an intense ruby red with garnet reflections, a sign of its aging period and the structure that distinguishes it.Nose
The bouquet is broad and deep: notes of ripe cherry, small red fruits, and spicy nuances of black pepper, leather, and sweet tobacco emerge. The evolution in the glass also reveals balsamic hints and Mediterranean herbs, typical of the best Sangiovese from Chianti Classico.Palate
On the palate, it is full, balanced, and consistent with the olfactory sensations. The tannins (the natural substances in grapes that give structure and a dry sensation to the sip) are fine and well-integrated, while the freshness provides momentum and elegance. The persistence is long and enveloping, with a finish that recalls red fruit and sweet spices.Pairings for Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno

Storage and aging: how to store Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno
To best preserve the Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2021 - Buondonno, keep it in a cool, dark environment at a constant temperature between 14 and 18°C, with the bottle laid horizontally to keep the cork moist.
