What kind of wine is Chianti Classico DOCG “Fonterutoli” 2022 Magnum - Mazzei, Castello di Fonterutoli (wooden case)
The Chianti Classico DOCG “Fonterutoli” 2022 Magnum - Mazzei, Castello di Fonterutoli (wooden case) is a Tuscan red wine of great balance and personality, signed by one of Italy's most historic wine families. It is born in the heart of Chianti Classico, in Castellina in Chianti, from a careful selection of the best estate parcels, an authentic expression of the richness and variety of Fonterutoli's soils. Predominantly produced with Sangiovese grapes alongside a small percentage of complementary local varieties, the Fonterutoli 2022 embodies tradition, elegance, and energy. It is a medium-to-full-bodied Chianti Classico with a contemporary soul, capable of combining freshness and depth, an ideal representative of the appellation.Vintage Details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a warm but balanced climate, with good diurnal temperature variations that favored excellent phenolic maturation of the grapes. The harvest took place between late September and early October, allowing for healthy and concentrated bunches. The result is an intense wine, with clear aromas and a marked aromatic finesse, capable of fully expressing the character of the Fonterutoli territory.Winemaking and Aging
Winemaking takes place with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, to preserve the typical fruity aromas of Sangiovese. Maceration on the skins lasts approximately two weeks, sufficient time to extract color, body, and soft but structured tannins. This is followed by aging for about 12 months in small oak barriques, some new and some second-passage, which provide a balance between elegance and complexity without covering the fruit's freshness.Tasting Notes

Brilliant ruby red with luminous garnet reflections. The hue is intense and vibrant, a sign of a young wine with excellent concentration.Nose
On the nose, it expresses a broad and complex bouquet, with prominent notes of ripe cherry, violet, and small red fruits. These are followed by spicy hints and slight balsamic nuances, the result of well-dosed wood aging.Palate
On the palate, it is balanced and round, with a fine and pleasantly velvety tannic structure. The typical freshness of Sangiovese supports the sip, while the finish is long and harmonious, with a fruity and slightly spicy return.Food Pairings with Chianti Classico DOCG “Fonterutoli” 2022 Magnum - Mazzei, Castello di Fonterutoli (wooden case)
