What kind of wine is Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co

Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co is an elegant expression of the savoir-faire of the historic Maison of Reims, renowned for its constant pursuit of balance between freshness and depth. This champagne is born in the heart of Champagne, an iconic region in northern France, where the Champagne method – also known as méthode traditionnelle – involves a second fermentation in the bottle that gives fineness and liveliness to the bubbles. It is a refined and complex cuvée, in which the art of blending and time play a fundamental role in creating a rosé of unique personality.

Vintage Details

Champagne Rosé 'Solera' originates from a skilful blend that combines wines from different vintages, preserved using the Solera method. This fascinating winemaking system allows for the consistent quality and style of the wine over time, integrating small quantities of younger vintages with more mature reserve wines – some of which date back up to 25 years. The result is a cuvée that encompasses the nuances of many harvests, balancing freshness, structure, and aromatic complexity.

Vinification and Aging

The base of this Champagne Rosé comes from the Palmer Maison's Extra Brut cuvée, to which about 15% of red reserve wine obtained from Pinot Noir grapes from the best Champagne crus is added. Fermentation takes place according to the classic method: the wine rests on its lees for about 2-3 years in the Maison's silent cellars, where it develops complex aromas and a creamy texture. After dégorgement (disgorgement, or the removal of yeast residues), a further year of aging in the bottle follows to reach perfect maturity. The final dosage, equal to 9 g/l, perfectly balances its freshness and roundness.

Tasting Notes

Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co is a wine that captivates at first glance and conquers with its gustatory harmony.

Colour

Visually, it presents a pale pink with coppery reflections, brilliant and luminous. The fine and persistent bubbles rise elegantly in the glass, a sign of excellent mousse formation and long aging on the lees.

Nose

The bouquet is intense and refined: notes of fresh red fruits – wild strawberry, raspberry, and currant – stand out, blending with hints of ripe citrus and light pastry nuances. With aeration, sweet spice and dried fruit tones emerge, testifying to the complexity derived from the Solera method.

Taste

On the palate, it is creamy, balanced, and of great elegance. The attack is lively but immediately soft, with a pleasant acidity that supports the fruity notes and a long, mineral finish. The bubbles are extremely fine and perfectly integrated, providing a sensation of silky persistence.

Pairing Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co with food

This Champagne Rosé is extremely versatile at the table. Its freshness and structure make it ideal for accompanying both delicate dishes and more flavourful preparations. Perfect:

  • with appetizers based on raw fish or shellfish;
  • with refined first courses, such as a seafood risotto or truffle risotto;
  • with white meats and balanced Asian cuisine dishes;
  • as an ideal companion for an elegant aperitif or a romantic dinner.

Thanks to the magnum format, this Champagne is also perfect for special occasions and shared convivial moments.

Storage and aging: how to store Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co

To best preserve all the aromatic and gustatory qualities of this Champagne Rosé, it is important to store it in a suitable environment:

  • Temperature: constant between 10°C and 12°C, avoiding sudden changes in temperature.
  • Light: keep the bottle away from direct light sources, as light can alter the freshness of the wine.
  • Position: keep the bottle lying down, so that the cork remains in contact with the wine and does not dry out.

If well preserved, Champagne Rosé 'Solera' Magnum - Palmer & Co can evolve in the bottle for several years, developing further nuances of complexity and a surprising harmony of aromas and flavors.
