What kind of wine is Champagne Rosé 'Royale Réserve' - Philipponnat
Champagne Rosé 'Royale Réserve' - Philipponnat is produced in the heart of Champagne, between Ay and Mareuil-sur-Ay, two historic villages renowned for the quality of their Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. It is made by Maison Philipponnat, one of the oldest Champagne houses, famous for its elegant style and its adherence to the traditional Champagne method, also known as the classic method, which involves a second fermentation in the bottle to achieve natural effervescence. This is a refined and profound Rosé, capable of combining freshness, structure, and aromatic complexity, ideal for both enthusiasts and those new to the world of quality Champagne.Vintage details
Champagne Rosé 'Royale Réserve' - Philipponnat is made from a careful selection of grapes harvested in balanced vintages, when the Champagne climate provides mild summers and optimal grape ripening. The maison blends wines from different vintages, supplemented with 20-30% of reserve wines aged in wood using the solera method, to ensure continuity in style and quality, regardless of the climatic conditions of each harvest.Winemaking and aging
The winemaking process follows the Champagne method, which involves a second fermentation in the bottle and a long aging on the lees, for about three years, to develop complex aromas and a fine and persistent mousse. To the base cuvée, composed mainly of Pinot Noir, a small percentage (about 7-8%) of still red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes from Mareuil-sur-Ay is added, which gives it its typical rosé color and red fruit nuances. The dosage – i.e., the amount of sugar added before final corking – is moderate (about 9 g/l), maintaining a perfect balance between freshness and softness.Tasting notes

Visually, it presents a delicate salmon pink with coppery reflections, an expression of elegance and maturity. The bubbles are fine, continuous, and of great finesse, a sign of perfectly executed secondary fermentation.Nose
The bouquet is intense but refined, dominated by notes of wild strawberries, raspberries, and cherries that blend with hints of bread crust and sweet almond, resulting from aging on the lees. Delicate spicy and floral nuances then emerge, enriching the aromatic profile.Taste
In the mouth, it stands out for its balance between freshness and roundness. The body is structured, with a fine and creamy perlage that caresses the palate, while the finish is long, mineral, and pleasantly fruity, with a return of wild strawberries and citrus. A sip of great harmony and persistence. What dishes to pair with Champagne Rosé 'Royale Réserve' - Philipponnat
