What kind of wine is Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy

Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy is born in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, one of the most renowned areas of Champagne, France. The Bernard Remy house, family-run since 1968, stands out for its artisanal approach and meticulous attention to grape quality. This cuvée represents the ultimate expression of the house's style: balance, elegance, and freshness.

Like every true Champagne, the “Prestige” is also made using the Champenoise method (also known as the classic method), the traditional technique that involves a second fermentation in the bottle to develop its fine effervescence. This slow and natural process is what gives the wine its characteristic fine bubbles and typical aromatic complexity.

Vintage Details

The vintage of Champagne Prestige Bernard Remy is characterized by balanced climatic conditions, with mild springs and a dry but not scorching summer. These conditions favored optimal grape ripening, giving the wine a clean and harmonious aromatic profile. The blend, often based on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, reflects the elegance and personality of the harvest.

Winemaking and Aging

Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy is produced faithfully following the classic method: after primary fermentation, the wine rests in the bottle for prise de mousse, which is the second fermentation that generates natural bubbles. This is followed by a long aging on the lees for about 3 years, a period that enriches the wine with fragrant notes and a long, elegant finish. The dosage, balanced in the Brut style, offers a pleasant sensation of freshness without masking the natural aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes

Color

In the glass, Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy presents a brilliant straw yellow with golden reflections, traversed by a fine and continuous stream of bubbles, a sign of impeccable craftsmanship and a long stay on the lees.

Nose

The bouquet is inviting and complex: notes of ripe fruit like apple and peach emerge, followed by hints of brioche, acacia honey, and candied citrus. With aeration in the glass, elegant toasted nuances and a hint of hazelnut are perceived, typical of prolonged aging.

Palate

On the palate, it is creamy, harmonious, and decisive. The bubbles are fine and persistent, accompanied by a freshness that perfectly balances the structure. The finish is long, mineral, and intriguing, leaving a sensation of balance and pleasantness that invites another sip.

Food Pairings for Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy

This Champagne is extremely versatile at the table. It pairs perfectly with:

  • elegant fish appetizers, shellfish, or oysters
  • Japanese cuisine dishes like sushi and sashimi

  • white meat or poultry main courses
  • creamy soft cheeses

Also ideal as an apéritif Champagne, for celebrating a special moment, or for accompanying a refined dinner.

Storage and Aging: How to store Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy

To maintain the quality of Champagne 'Prestige' - Bernard Remy, it is important to follow some simple storage rules:

  • Temperature: between 10 and 12°C constant, avoiding temperature fluctuations.
  • Light: store away from direct light sources, especially sunlight.
  • Bottle position: keep the bottle horizontal to keep the cork moist and ensure an airtight seal.

Under these conditions, the Champagne can evolve positively for several years, developing even greater complexity and aromatic intensity. However, to best appreciate its freshness and vitality, it is advisable to consume it within 3-4 years after disgorgement.
