What kind of wine is Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 'Floramundi' 2022 - Donnafugata
Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 'Floramundi' 2022 - Donnafugata is a Sicilian red wine that fully represents the soul of the island's southeast territory, between the provinces of Ragusa and Vittoria. It is the only Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) in Sicily, the result of the harmonious union of two native grape varieties: Nero d'Avola (about 70%) and Frappato (about 30%). The result is a medium-bodied wine, pleasantly fresh and juicy, where the softness of Nero d'Avola meets the fragrance and aromatic delicacy of Frappato.Vintage Details
The 2022 vintage in southeastern Sicily was characterized by a balanced climate, with warm but not excessive temperatures and good thermal excursions between day and night. This favored optimal grape ripening, ensuring wines with a great balance between freshness and aromatic concentration. The 'Floramundi' 2022 fully expresses the typicality of the vintage: intense aromas, crisp fruit, and a pleasant vitality on the palate.Winemaking and Aging
The vinification of Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 'Floramundi' 2022 - Donnafugata is carried out to preserve the purity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with a maceration of about 10 days on the skins — a process that allows for the extraction of color and tannins in a soft and balanced way. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for about nine months in steel and then for several months in the bottle, to perfect harmony and roundness.Tasting Notes
