What kind of wine is Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 'Pian delle Vigne - Vignaferrovia' 2019 - Pian delle Vigne, Antinori
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 'Pian delle Vigne - Vignaferrovia' 2019 - Pian delle Vigne, Antinori is a Tuscan red wine of great elegance and depth, produced exclusively in vintages considered excellent. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in the small “Vignaferrovia” vineyard, a cru of about 4.5 hectares located in front of the historic nineteenth-century railway line that crosses the estate. This is a wine with a decisive character, full-bodied and complex in structure, capable of combining strength and refinement in a harmonious balance that makes it ideal for long bottle aging.Vintage Details
The 2019 vintage in Montalcino is remembered for its balanced climate, capable of yielding grapes of the highest quality. Sunny days, interspersed with cooler nights, allowed for a slow and complete maturation of the Sangiovese, resulting in a concentrated yet well-balanced fruit with freshness. The harvest, which began in early October, delivered healthy and perfectly ripe clusters, ideal for a Riserva destined for a long life.Winemaking and Aging
After careful fermentation in steel vats, with temperature control to preserve the aromas, the must remains in contact with the skins for an extended period, promoting the extraction of color, structure, and soft tannins. This is followed by a long aging in large oak barrels, where the wine slowly matures and evolves, acquiring complexity, elegance, and extraordinary aromatic depth. After wood aging, the Riserva rests for several more months in the bottle before being released onto the market.Tasting Notes
