What wine is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 'Madonna delle Grazie' 2018 - Il Marroneto

The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 'Madonna delle Grazie' 2018 - Il Marroneto is a Tuscan excellence produced north of the Montalcino hill, in a vineyard named after the ancient church of Madonna delle Grazie, dating back to the 13th century. Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, this Brunello represents the authentic soul of the territory and the Il Marroneto style: elegance, balance, and longevity.

Yields per hectare are deliberately low to maintain the concentration and expressiveness of the fruit. The result is a powerful yet refined wine, capable of expressing the vintage and the Montalcino terroir with surprising aromatic purity and harmonious structure.

Vintage Details

2018 was a vintage characterized by regular weather, with balanced temperatures and well-distributed rainfall. The manual and selective harvest allowed for healthy grapes to be picked, rich in aromas and mature tannins. The result is a Brunello that combines freshness and intensity, focusing more on elegance than power, with surprising drinkability for the denomination.

Vinification and aging

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts, followed by a long maceration on the skins to extract color and complex aromas. Aging continues for 41 months in large capacity oak barrels (25 hectoliters), an approach that ensures controlled oxygenation and respect for the varietal identity of Sangiovese. Refinement concludes with 10 months in the bottle, during which the wine reaches its full harmony. Production is very limited: just 9,000 bottles, each destined to represent the best of artisanal Brunello.

Tasting Notes

A Brunello that enchants with its complexity and finesse, enhancing the character of Sangiovese in every sensory nuance.

Color

To the eye, it presents a brilliant ruby red, with slight garnet reflections that hint at its evolutionary potential.

Nose

On the nose, it expresses a deep and multifaceted bouquet: notes of ripe cherry and raspberry blend with hints of violet, aromatic herbs, and light sweet spices. Balsamic tones and nuances of tobacco then emerge, testifying to the long maturation in wood.

Taste

On the palate, it is harmonious, with fine and velvety tannins, typical of Sangiovese grown at high altitudes. The structure is important but never heavy, balanced by a vibrant freshness. The finish is persistent, elegant, with a fruity and spicy return that invites the next sip.
