What kind of wine is Barbera d’Alba DOC “Pairolero” 2023 - Sottimano?
The Barbera d’Alba DOC “Pairolero” 2023 - Sottimano is a Piedmontese red wine born in the heart of the Langhe, in Neive, from one of the region's emblematic grape varieties: Barbera. The controlled designation of origin (DOC) “Barbera d’Alba” guarantees the authenticity of this wine, a full expression of the territory and the careful production style of the Sottimano family. The “Pairolero” represents a Barbera with an elegant and contemporary style, with a full yet balanced body, capable of harmoniously combining freshness and aromatic intensity. It is a wine that captivates with its personality and versatility at the table, ideal for those who want to discover a Barbera with a refined yet authentic profile.Vintage details
The 2023 vintage was characterized by balanced climatic conditions, with a warm but not extreme summer and a September marked by good temperature excursions between day and night. These conditions allowed the Barbera grapes to reach perfect ripeness, with excellent aromatic concentration and natural freshness, elements that are reflected in the glass with a precise and lively aromatic profile.Winemaking and aging
The grapes come from vineyards located in Neive, in the Basarin and San Cristoforo crus, with south and west exposure. After harvesting, the grapes are vinified with a long maceration of about 25 days, during which the skins remain in contact with the must to extract color, aromas, and structure. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, without the addition of selected yeasts, to fully respect the identity of the territory. The wine matures for about 15 months in barriques, only 15% of which are new, in order to harmonize the tannins without covering the fruity character of the Barbera. The result is a wonderfully balanced red, where wood aging helps to round out the wine, giving it a pleasant complexity.Tasting Notes
