What kind of wine is Barbera d'Alba DOC 2022 - Matteo Correggia
The Barbera d'Alba DOC 2022 - Matteo Correggia is a Piedmontese red wine that clearly and authentically expresses the personality of the Roero hills. Produced in Canale d'Alba, in the heart of Roero, it is made from 100% Barbera grapes from sandy soils with the presence of silt and clay, which give the wine a solid yet elegant structure. It is a label that tells the philosophy of the Correggia winery, now carried on with the same passion by Matteo's children, and which has always aimed for a perfect balance between tradition and freshness.Vintage Details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a warm and dry climate, which favored complete maturation of the grapes, resulting in healthy and concentrated bunches. The result is an energetic Barbera d'Alba, with ripe fruit, but with a pleasant acidity that preserves its drinkability. The harvest, carried out manually, allowed only the best bunches to be selected, thus ensuring excellent raw material quality.Winemaking and Aging
The winemaking follows a style that combines technical rigor and respect for the identity of the grape variety. After traditional fermentation, maceration on the skins allows color and aromas to be extracted without making the wine heavy. The aging process includes:- 6 months in stainless steel, to preserve the freshness and fragrance of the fruit;
- 12 months in barrique (small oak barrels), which give complexity and softness;
- 6 months of further rest in the bottle, to harmonize the aromatic and gustatory profile.
