What kind of wine is Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena DOCG 2021 'Valpantena' - Bertani

The Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena DOCG 2021 'Valpantena' - Bertani is born in the heart of the Valpantena hills, one of the most renowned areas of Valpolicella and the only additional mention recognized by the appellation's disciplinary regulations. It is a full-bodied and intense red wine, made primarily from Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes, selected and air-dried according to tradition. The combination of the mineral terroir and Bertani winery's long experience gives life to an Amarone of great elegance, where structure and softness find a perfect balance.

Vintage Details

The 2021 harvest was characterized by a balanced climate, with warm but not extreme summers and a dry autumn, perfect for drying the grapes. The ideal conditions allowed for healthy grapes rich in sugars and aromatic substances, giving the wine remarkable complexity and well-balanced freshness.

Winemaking and Aging

After harvesting, the grapes are left to air-dry for about 100 days in ventilated drying rooms, concentrating aromas and sugars. Fermentation occurs slowly, at a low temperature, to preserve the fruity and spicy notes. This is followed by a long maceration on the skins, responsible for the intense color and velvety structure. Aging takes place in medium and small oak barrels for about 24 months, a period that allows for an ideal balance between complexity, freshness, and softness.
