What kind of wine is Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 'L’Amarone' 2020 - Télos, Tenuta Sant'Antonio
The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 'L’Amarone' 2020 - Télos, Tenuta Sant'Antonio is an excellent Venetian red, an authentic expression of the Valpolicella hillside territory. Born from a traditional blend of Corvina (main grape), Rondinella, Croatina, and Oseleta, it represents one of the most modern and pure versions of Amarone, thanks to the total absence of added sulfites during vinification. The result is a wine of great structure, elegant yet surprisingly balanced, capable of expressing all the depth and power typical of this DOCG appellation.Vintage details
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a regular climate, with a harvest that yielded healthy, ripe, and perfectly balanced grapes in terms of sugars and acidity. The grapes, hand-picked, are then left to dry naturally for several weeks, an essential concentration to obtain the aromatic and gustatory intensity typical of Amarone. This harvest has given harmonious and persistent wines, with a fresh fruity profile and a full but never excessive structure.Vinification and aging
The vinification follows the “Télos” protocol, a natural winemaking project that involves the absence of added sulfites, in full respect of the integrity of the grapes. After crushing, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with long maceration on the skins, gently extracting color, aromas, and tannins. Aging continues in French oak barrels for at least 16 months, a period that allows the wine to mature, soften tannins, and develop olfactory and gustatory complexity.Tasting notes
Color
In the glass, it appears an intense garnet red with deep ruby reflections, typical of young but already structured Amarone.Nose
The bouquet is broad and rich: notes of ripe cherry, blackberry, and dried plum stand out, accompanied by spicy hints of cocoa, sweet tobacco, and vanilla from the wood. The aromatic breadth evolves in the glass, progressively revealing nuances of balsamic herbs and fine spices.Taste
On the palate, it is enveloping and balanced, with tight but soft tannins supporting a powerful and velvety body. The persistence is long, with returns of red fruit and hints of licorice and dark chocolate. The full-bodied structure harmonizes with a dry and savory finish, a distinctive characteristic of this "uncompromising" Amarone. What dishes to pair with Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 'L’Amarone' 2020 - Télos, Tenuta Sant'Antonio
