What kind of wine is Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2019 - Costa Arènte?

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2019 - Costa Arènte is a red wine of great elegance, an authentic expression of the Veronese hills. It is made from a careful selection of classic Valpolicella grape varieties – Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella – cultivated on hilly and suitable terrains. It is a full-bodied, enveloping, and intense wine, capable of combining structure and softness in a balanced way. Ideal for those looking for an Amarone with a traditional character but modern freshness, perfect for tasting today or for cellaring.

Vintage Details

The 2019 vintage was characterized by balanced climatic conditions: a mild and rainy spring, followed by a warm but not excessive summer. The grapes thus ripened gradually, achieving a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. The harvest, which took place between late September and early October, produced healthy grapes rich in aromas, ideal for facing the appassimento (drying) phase that gives Amarone its unmistakable concentration.

Winemaking and Aging

After harvesting, the selected grape bunches are placed in crates and left to dry for about 100 days, during which time they lose part of their water and concentrate sugars, aromas, and aromatic substances. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by a long maceration that allows the wine to extract color and tannins in a balanced way. Aging continues for 36 months in oak barrels of different sizes, and concludes with further rest in the bottle before release for sale. This process gives the wine complexity, roundness, and aromatic depth.
