What kind of wine is Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva DOC 'Trattmann Mazon' 2022 Magnum - Girlan
The Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva DOC "Trattmann Mazon" 2022 Magnum - Girlan is a red wine of great elegance, an authentic expression of the Alto Adige territory and its emblematic grape variety, Pinot Noir. It originates from vineyards located in the hamlet of Mazzon, an area renowned for Pinot Noir production thanks to sunny exposures, clayey soils, and a cool microclimate that favors a slow and regular ripening of the grapes. The result is a medium-bodied wine, refined and complex, capable of harmoniously combining freshness and aromatic depth.Vintage details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by balanced climatic conditions, with warm days and cool nights that allowed the natural acidity of the grapes to be preserved. Optimal conditions during harvest allowed perfectly ripe bunches to be picked, with an excellent balance between sugars and tannins. This contributed to creating a Pinot Noir with an elegant profile, good structure, and a decisive yet always fine character.Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and left to ferment traditionally in steel vats with a maceration that favors the extraction of color and the natural aromatic components from the skins. The subsequent aging phase takes place for approximately 15 months, partly in French oak barriques and partly in larger barrels, a choice that allows for a perfect balance between structure, complexity, and finesse. The wine then rests for an additional 8 months in the bottle before release, reaching an almost perfect harmony between fruit and woody notes.Tasting notes
Color
Visually, it presents a refined, brilliant ruby red color, with slight garnet hues that anticipate its evolution and aromatic complexity.Nose
The olfactory profile is intense and seductive. Scents of ripe cherry, raspberry, and red currant are perceived, evolving towards more complex notes of sweet spices, vanilla, tobacco, and light hints of undergrowth. The overall impression is elegant and balanced, never overwhelming.Palate
On the palate, the Trattmann Mazon 2022 is striking for its harmony: medium body, silky tannins, and a lively sip supported by pleasant acidity. The texture is velvety, with excellent persistence and a long finish that recalls the fruity and spicy notes perceived on the nose. A Pinot Noir that naturally combines elegance and substance.Food pairings for Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva DOC 'Trattmann Mazon' 2022 Magnum - Girlan
