What kind of wine is Alto Adige Pinot Nero Riserva DOC 'Monticol' 2022 - Terlan
The Alto Adige Pinot Nero Riserva DOC “Monticol” 2022 - Terlan is an elegant and refined red wine, produced by the renowned Cantina di Terlano, in the heart of South Tyrol. It is made from selected Pinot Noir grapes, one of the noblest and most difficult grape varieties to cultivate, which here expresses surprising depth and a balance between freshness and structure. It is a medium-bodied to full-bodied wine, harmonious and complex, representing the perfect combination of tradition and mountain viticulture.Vintage details
The 2022 vintage was characterized by a balanced climate, with warm but breezy summers and excellent temperature swings between day and night. These conditions favored gradual grape ripening, maintaining an excellent balance between sugars and acidity. The harvest, carried out manually, allowed for a careful selection of bunches, ensuring the quality and integrity of the fruit.Winemaking and aging
After destemming, the must ferments slowly in steel tanks with a maceration on the skins for about 10 days, useful for extracting color and soft tannins. This is followed by the maturation phase in small oak barrels (barriques), where the wine ages for several months, developing complexity and harmony. Before commercialization, the Pinot Nero Riserva “Monticol” rests further in the bottle to refine its elegant and silky character.Tasting notes
Color
It presents an intense, luminous and deep ruby red color, with delicate garnet reflections that anticipate its maturity and elegance.Nose
The bouquet is complex and refined: notes of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant emerge, alongside spicy nuances of cinnamon, cloves, and a touch of sweet vanilla derived from the wood. Over time, it gains tertiary hints of undergrowth and dried leaves, typical of the most authentic Pinot Noir.Palate
On the palate, it is enveloping and harmonious. The sip is distinguished by its finesse, with silky and well-integrated tannins, a balanced structure, and a long aromatic persistence. The lively acidity gives freshness and encourages the next sip, leaving a pleasant memory of ripe fruit and light spices.What dishes to pair with Alto Adige Pinot Nero Riserva DOC 'Monticol' 2022 - Terlan
The Pinot Nero Riserva “Monticol” is an extremely versatile wine at the table. It pairs perfectly with:- white meat dishes such as rabbit or veal;
